I have problems with a Gainward videocard GeForce 8400 GS, 256 MB, passive sink, I cannot watch movies/videos in full hd mode (which is supported) and there is a problem with playing DVD's because the key-protection is not compatible with the videocard... I have the latest drivers downloaded from the Gainward official site

Hey there, you are having trouble because of the simple fact that, no matter what your GPU is 256MB VRAM will NOT play full HD(doesn't matter if it says it's supported).
For 720p 512mb is okay but if you want the full 1080p HD experience go with a 1GB + Card
If you want a recommendation go with the GTX 455 1GB.
