The grinding is in the pump, probably some soda change. nd is no drain. Which model front or top load? Top load the pump is front right and has two hoses on it. Try to drain the water out and tip the machine back enough that it stays and spin the belt off. Set it down and use a putty knife and feel along the first two inches left and right where top meets the front panel. You find two catches that when depressed will allow access to the top underside. Hold the lid and tilt the top back, make sure the console clears the back wall and gently let the lid go back, make sure it stays. Ok the front panel has two 5/16 hex head screws holding it to the sides. They are one inch down at either side, hard to see with out light. Once these are out the panel tilts towards you held at the bottom by two prongs, tilt and pull the bottom towards you and up. The pump has three 5/16 hex screws or 3/8 and the rest is wet and looking in the pump for junk to clean out.
