I accidentally changed the IR code in the operational settings to DR2. Now the remote control will not work. I tried pushing the setup button but DR2 shows up on the screen of the DVD recorder and I can't get access to the setup menu. Any suggestions about how to get to the setup menu so I can change it bace to DR1?
The remote control for your DVR has the capability to control 2
additional DVRs in addition to the one that you currently have. In
order for the remote control to work with your DVR, you will need to
make certain both of them are talking on the same frequency. If you
press the remote control and the front of your unit says DR2, that
means that you need to have your remote on DR2 as well so that it can
operate the DVR. To set your remote to DR2, you will need to make sure
the unit is off then you will need to press and hold down the SETUP
button and while you are holding this button down, press the number 2
button. Your remote is now set to DR2.
Good luck...
Brilliant! Thanks - I had the same problem. I don't know why they design them that way - at least, not without proper instructions! Cheers. Hugh
If you have the SE-R0144 remote, hold down the EASY NAV button and press 2 due to SELECT button being in the underneath part of the number pad so you cannot hit SELECT and 1 or 2 simultaneously.

Press the setup button until the light blinks twice and then enter the code associated with your material.
Dear Sir/madam,
The most important remote code, of course, that could be gleaned from all this is the discrete off (play could be used for discrete on):
- Discrete off: 900A 006D 0000 0001 45B5 936C
- Edit... Discrete on? 900A 006D 0000 0001 45B5 FE01
But I also found some interesting maintenance codes in the Cxxx range. Trying this though, I'd recommend being very careful and avoiding e.g. the code ending with xx3A. That starts some kind of update process apparently saying don't shut down. It accepts no remote commands (it shows the remote code pressed on player's screen though, which is interesting), no powerdown but is fortunately exitable by pressing Eject on the player - or at least was for me, I'm not trying that one again... Whew. Some other codes also produce error messages on video or on player screen.
These codes I found to do something interesting:
- Player display test, all the items in the player display light up and animate: 900A 006D 0000 0001 45B5 C738
- Disc tray lock (for all you folks with kids) on and off: 900A 006D 0000 0001 45B5 C639
- Time and date on players screen (sorry, only for a moment): 900A 006D 0000 0001 45B5 CB34
- Factory reset (you loose all your settings): 900A 006D 0000 0001 45B5 CD32
---
- Time and date on players screen (sorry, only for a moment): 900A 006D 0000 0001 45B5 CB34

Try to Factory Reset with your remote

If none of the codes work then we have two other solutions:
1. Searching For Your Code
If you have tried all of the set-up codes for your brand of equipment ,or yourbrand is not listed, and you are still not able to get the unit to respond, trythe following procedure to search for your code.
If you don't find a code that works, the remote will flash four times when youreach the end of all the codes for this device type.
Make sure that the remote is pointed at your device during the search, You may have to press this sequences of buttons up to 100 times to search the entire library of codes.
2. Learn the buttons from the original
Line up your original remote and the head-to-head before completing thefollowing steps.
Now you can repeat steps 3 through 5 to learn other functions onto other keysor press and hold SETUP until the Cinema's red light flashes twice to lock inyour new feature. (If the red light does not blink twice, stop and repeat stepsthrough 6).
To test the new feature, press and release the device key in which the newfeature was learned followed by the key on which the feature was learned

Hi
First of all try soft reset, both HDD recorder and remote control, Unplug the HDD recorder and keep unplugged about 2-3 minutes. Take the batteries of remote control out and put it back 30 seconds later (Make sure batteries are OK)
Also you can obtain detailed Owner's Manual from link below

The suggestion was to check the owner's manual to reconfigure the DVR. But, I can't find anything in the owner's manual about this. This problem is in relation to a Toshiba RD-XS35 HDD/DVD video recorder.
Someone suggested holding the stop button down for a while. This did not do anything.
