Hi jx305, we want to help you with your question, but we need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
What is the ip address of the computer you are using to access the belkin f7d2301 .
Is it 192.168.2.{whatever 1 - 254) eg does it have the same network address 192.168.2 or is it something different like 10.0.0
How is the belkin f7d2301 connected to your network ? Is it also connected to an existing router with a dhcp server and what leases are being issued to your devices ?
What is the existing router's ip address ?
Suggest checking ip network address is matching and that dhcp is not issuing 192.168.2.1 as a lease. If the existing router in network is 192.168.2.1 then the f7d2301 needs to be 192.168.2.2. Also don't have two dhcp servers in your network have only one.
Please advise on ip address allocations and network setup . also that subnet mask's match example of subnet mask 255.255.255.0

SOURCE: losing internet connection when I try to connect laptop to wireless router

Your cloning the mac address - thats the problem. It should use it's own mac address to connect to the modem. You need to power down the modem, then repower after a minute or so to let it connect to the new mac address. The problem you are seeing is due to network collisions betweenj the desktop and the router with the modem.

SOURCE: Router won't connect to the internet

I managed to figure it out. I had to clone the MAC address to get the router to connect to the Internet.

I still have another problem though, my laptop still won't connect to the router. I'm using Vista, is this a possible network adapter issue? My laptop is fine at connecting to other wireless networks round my friend's houses/libraries...

SOURCE: F5D7231-4 stopped connecting to Internet via downstream router

Why did you change it from dynamic to static? My suggestion would be to put it back to dynamic and let it grab a good ip address from the gateway. The other option is to contact whoever managed the network at your apartment and see what they will charge you for a static IP address.

SOURCE: trying to install belkin enhanced wireless router

Turn everything off. I mean everything. That is, turn off the computer, the router, and the modem, unplug them, and disconnect them from each other. If the modem has a battery, remove it if you can so it shuts completely off. Wait a few minutes, then BEFORE YOU POWER ON, reconnect the signal cables... modem to router, router to PC. Then replace the battery/turn on your modem, plug your power back into your router, then turn on your PC. Hope this helps.
