The above answer is exactly correct. Just to elaborate, do not perform this function at night, it is best to do in the late morning or early afternoon. What I always do, is set the date, which is usually pulling the crown out to first or second position, not all the way out, move the date to the day before it is today, then wind the watch forward, paying attention to when the date changes. If it is 10 am, and you wind it forward, the date changes to the correct date, then just keep on until you get to 10 am, that way you know that the watch is set for the correct date, and knows that it is 10 am instead of 10 pm.
