turn on your ps3 from the back switch but leave it with the red light on (on the front).
now press the power button (where the red light is)and hold it, you will hear the initial single beep then you will hear a second single beep after that you will hear a double beep. when you hear hear the double beep release. You may have to do this twice. First time doesn't always work
a menu with 6 option will appear. select option #3
when the ps3 comes back up. repeat steps but now select option 2
no game data or trophys will be deleted
you will have to setup again.

might be something interfreing with broad band do you have sky if so unplug your sky phone line and plug your filter stright in to the phone socket the try just a surgestion coz i was having simaler prob with ps2

I got the exact same error message, it`s probably something going on with Playstation Network itself, not our systems.

The reason your browser will still work is because it doesn't require the playstation network to run, it only requires your internet connection to be working. The signing in requires a connection between your connection and sony's servers.
