Mecha error is a Mechanical Error. This means that this is an actual physical malfunction of the unit. Sometimes pressing the reset button can realign some of the mechanics but most often this is a problem that requires to be serviced.
I was having the same problem and when it would try to eject the dvd I would just take another dvd and use it to push the dvd up, and it would come out. A few times of doing that made it stop doing that for some reason, and hasn't done it since. hope this helps!
This may sound stupid, but if you have a CD in the unit and when you try to eject it you get the MECHA error, what I do is...
Try...
1.With CD in unit, I press EJECT and then see if CD stays stuck, I then take another CD and us it to push the CD back into the unit. Then I press the eject button again until the CD in the unit pops out.
2. If #1 dosen't work, I then PUSH the eject BUTTON and then slightly add pressure to the opening where the CD comes out using my thumb.
I normally find this problem happening with certain CD. For some reason some CD seems THICKER than others. The CD's that seem thin pop out just fine.
Anyway, it not HIGH SCIENCE, but I hope it helps. It works for me. Good luck!
Our 2014 odyssey had mechanic error when inserting DVDs. We bought it used, unfortunately the second day it stopped working on us. It also kept saying eject repeatedly and we thought perhaps a second dvd was in there. Tried the old double sided tape on a gift card trick and wiggled around. The player then said no disc. We popped in a disc and it worked!
I searched on so many forums and nothing. Hope this helps someone else out. Maybe a mechanical piece was misaligned. We were going to take the player apart and search for coins next, glad we didn't have to
My DCFC Narrow Stairs disc does this every time I put it in my DNX890HD. I also use anything similar width to push in and under the front edge of the stuck disc and lift up when pushing eject. I finally took it out of the truck but the Kenwood displayed the 'Mecha Error' every time. That disc is a bit thicker imo and mine had a rough edge, I wanted to shave the edge down but never really bothered with it, I just bought an iPod with more storage on eBay instead!
Blow it up and get a new one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
