Print Problem - vertical lines

If the problem only occurs when using the document feeder, the problem is not usually caused by the drum. When using the document feeder, try to notice where the scanner (the light assembly under your scan glass)stops just before the paper is being fed. Some multifunction machines have a small piece of glass that is separate from the large scan glass and the scanner assembly stays parked underneith it as the original is being fed over it. Most likely there is something on the glass where the scanner parks as originals are being fed thru the feeder. When putting your original on the large scan glass to copy, the mark on the glass will only show as a spot, but will show as a vertical line thru the whole copy when using the feeder.

I have MFC 7820N. Noticed same problem as other when making copies. Vertical line used to appear.

Open the Scanner where you can see the glass - Flatbed ( where you put the documents to copy)
Make sure that Glass is Clean.
Now make there is Glass on left side about 1x9 inch. Make sure this glass is clean. I had rubbery stain on that I had to rub it off.

Vertical line does not appear when I make copy from Feeder or Flatbed.

What techbill suggested actually worked on my Canon PIXMA MP530. To the left of the main glass is a strip of glass with a plastic film. I cleaned everything and I was still getting the vertical streak when it went through the feed. I got a flashlight, and found, on that plastic flap, a pinhead of dirt. I got it off, and wala! the vertical stripe is gone.

I own a Brother MFC 7820N. It is fairly new. I have printed or copied a total of 276 pages to date. I was copying a page earlier and noticed a vertical line on the right side of the copy. The line is about 1/2 inch wide. I cleaned the corona wire as per manufacturer's instruction but the line is still there. What should I do?
