There is a flat strip that leads from the body of the laser lens to the circuit board take it off and replace it that could be your problem.if that does not solve your problem then have a tech look at it to replace the laser lens.you can order the strip from www.dalbani.com good luck, your machine can give more life if you are prepare to invest money into it.
Replace the laser sounds like the laser has gone defective. There is no real fix except replacement of the laser. it might be better to replace the machine all together for it would be cheaper
