E04 indicates a drum motor communication problem with the micro. It most often requires solder connection rework on one of the boards where the fpc cable from the drum is terminated. This is a fix for a pro.

E04 IS a drum error. I have seen screws which fall out of the set and get stuck on the maginet of the lower cylinder drum assy. Does the drum spin ? can you turn it? If it is stuck find out what is making it not spin. I could need a new drum but I have also fixed this problem by cleaning the mechanism. I have a $40 cleaning and diagnostic fee.
