If coby is an independent company you are out of luck. Is coby made by a "master company"? (e.g. orion is made by emerson and their codes work for orion products)
I too replaced the batteries in my Coby 224 remote and lost all functions of the remote. Player still works by pushing the "play" button on the player manually.. just noticed someone posted that Coby will replace remote for a $6.00 money order. johnmewes@webband.com

Remote not working after changing the batery
My Coby DVD does not react on anything on the remote control.
I can still start a movie by pushing the start button on the dvd itself.
But nothing with the remote.
I exchanged the batteries. But no luck.
Please help.
