When I press GRAPH or TRACE I get a message saying: ERR: STAT PLOT 1:Quit What is this and how do I solve it?
SOURCE: my TI-83 doesn't plot
The problem seems to be that the list is archived. To fix this go to memory menu (2nd and mem) then find L1 or whatever list you want and hit enter next to it. This will get rid of the big asterick and then you can graph it or you should be able to.

Hi,
The solution for the problem is simple. When you use the calculator to create graphs, it is configured to accommodate the specificities of the problem. However that configuration remains set after you terminate the problem. So when you try to use the calculator to do other problems it uses the stored configuration parameters, which may be incompatible with the new problem.
In particular, list of paired-variables must have the same dimensions: There must be the same number of elements in each list.
To make a long story short, you should make it a habit to reset the Ram everytime you want to do a new problem. If for reasons of you own you do not want to reset the Ram, you can prevent this type of errors from occurring. This is how you do it.
To reset the Ram press [2nd][+] (MEM) [7:Reset][1:All Ram][2:Reset]. Press [CLEAR] to erase the Ram Cleared message.
Hope it answers your questions.
Thank You for usibg FixYa.

There's something wrong with your window limits, for example Xmax < Xmin or Ymax < Ymin. Press WINDOW to bring up the window editor and examine the values, making sure there are no inconsistencies.
If you don't see anything wrong, post a comment here listing all of the entries in the window editor.

You have to turn all statistical plots OFF before you draw function graphs. Press [2nd][Y=] to open the statistical plot configuration screen. Press [4:PlotsOFF] and then [ENTER]. When calculator answers DONE you are ready to draw function plots.
