Que:-1 I want to use DMA Transfer mode instead of PIO Mode in my system. The problem is that my system is not taking Primary IDE Channel in which current trasfer mode is in Ultra DMA Mode 5. While system is taking Secondary IDE Channel in which current transfer mode is in PIO Mode. Few months ago it was working in Primary IDE channel and Transfer Mode was Ultra DMA Mode 5, But I Don't Know how and when it Switches to Secondary IDE Channel with PIO Mode.
Now Please tell me how can i bring my system back in Primary IDE channel with Ultra DMA Mode 5.
Operating System:- Microsoft window xp Proeessional.
Service Pack - 2.0
BIOS Version : F.15
Device Type:- IDE ATA/ ATAPI Controllers.
Try this. go to BIOS, from your main page choice sata1 and press enter then press DMA MODE and chanege to UDMA5 press enter F10 save and exit

This condition is caused by spyware,hard drive problems. First create a restore point, then run this script http://winhlp.com/tools/resetdma.vbs reboot and should do the trick. After XP tried to access the hard drive without success for any reason there is a register counter that downgrades the speed of the hard drive to PIO. Good Luck!
