I get the error message "error while saving the settings to the device" while tring to store settings for an HP C4385 wireless printer.
After the message showed up I turned off the printer via unplugging it, then the wizard poped up a box saying that it could not detect the printer and your choices were to cancel or retry, i then plugged in the printer power again, and hit retry after the printer booted up entered in the network key and it took it just fine.
other people were saying that if your passphrase did not contain any special characters and was only numbers and letters that fixed the problem for them.
-Odyth
Odyth is CORRECT... the passphrase canNOT contain any special characters. this was my problem. I changed it to a passphrase with letters and numbers only and I got past the "error while saving the settings to the device" (error). Also, while I'm at it.. my printer worked fine wirelessly, and quit working when I thought it would be cool to change my linksys wireless G (WRT54G) router to use WPA2 encryption vs. what I was using which was a WEP key. Well, that was my first problem.. this printer doesn't support WPA2.. only WEP and WPA.. AND your passphrase cannot contain any special characters. I'm sure this has caused many headaches and much misery for a bunch of people who have this printer...
