This is a yahoo server error code It can happen if you try and try and amend contacts from your friends list before your address book Go to yahoo mail page > contacts > address book >check box next to contact to be deleted > delete

If you are trying to delete a contact, delete them from your email address book first. This error usually comes up when you try to delete a contact from messenger first.
0402 is a yahoo server error code and is triggered when you do
something out of sequence - try editing your contacts details in your
address book before editing messenger contact information
Are you using the web version of Yahoo messenger? If so, then most likely the server error is from not being able to complete the requested action (busy server on their end) Try again later and see if it works. Hope that helps
I have since found out that you have to actually go into your contacts under yahoo mail and delete them from that list, then it deletes them from your messenger. Found this solution on another website. Hope this helps anyone else who is having that problem.
