Probably the best way to correct this problem is to clear the RAM and download your app. again. In other words start over with a clean slate. After doing this you still have the same problem, you may need to open the machine and disengage the battery. This would clear the RAM, but you would then need to clear the tamper error message. At the sales screen hit F2 & F4 together password XX X Alpha Alpha 66831.
Then hit the button under the arrow on the left of the screen one time.
choose flash files the clear all files password XXXXX same as above.
Then clear Ram files clear all files and confirm
When the screen is blank and flashing, there is a censer not engaged. This may be caused by a broken case. If the unit has been dropped it will need replacement. call Frank @ 775-338-6634
Check the telephone port of your VX510. If it is moving or loose, pretty much you have a broken traces on the bottom board, and it can be repaired by opening the plastic casing and solder the broken port back to the board. But if you open the plastic case, a TAMPER MESSAGE will appear in your unit and only can be cleared by reloading the Verifone Tamper Removal Software. turn on the machine. press F2 and F4 at the same time. it will ask for the password key in Z66831 then enter (1AlphaAlpha66831). Arrow down by pressing one of the purple keys. look for the clock option and press the button that corresponds to it. and you are ready to change the time and date. remember to press enter button when you're done changing the time or date. and then the red X button to exit and then press restart key. thanks hope that wil help you. First rule of thumb for resetting any computer peripheral is to look for a tiny hole somewhere on the back or bottom that is just large enough to poke the unfolded end of a paper-clip in.
There may be an etching or label that says "reset" or it may say nothing.
Push the end of an unfolded paperclip into that hole with the power off and hold it for 10 to 30 seconds to reset the device to factory.
