Significant volume decrease when using Comcast cable box

Hi,
I have perfect volume when I attached cable line directly into my Akai TV. However, when I run the cable through my Comcast box then run A/V cables to my TV, my volume decreases significantly. I'm attaching red/green/blue video cables and white/red audio cables from comcast box into component 1 of my TV.

Thanks in advance for any help!
John

I have recently given up Comcast and had Fios installed. I have 3 TVs.

Two of the TVs are connected through SD cable boxes and the other is connected through an HD cable box. I have to turn the volume all the way up on the TV with the HD box, and then only get a low volume result. ( I did not have the same problem with this TV before.) I went out and bought a new HDTV, brought it home and replaced the TV hooked up to the HD cable box and same problem, low volume. I went back to the store where I bought the new TV and they said it had something to do with the HD cable box, and the frequency that it receives. I am next going to contact Verizon and ask them.

This low audio problem happened to me suddenly yesterday. I powered off over night - no change. I plugged the A/V cables into a second TV - no change. I called Comcast - problem solved.

First go into your DVR-HD cable box menu by hitting menu twice. Scroll to "Audio Control: Variable/Fixed" and change it to Variable, then set the volume level with the controls on the box.

dabmaps love your answer - call comcast, but don't tell us what the solution is - lol

you can also push and hold the "setup" button ( top tight ) until it blinks twice, then enter 9-9-3 and hit the volume button once. You should see the remote blink 4 times fast, what that does is release the global volume lock on the remote so you can control the volume on the cable box 24-7 from the remote.
