Refurbed machine - have now downloaded software to enable use of hotkeys but cannot fix function keys. Have finaly found right manual online, but suggested cmd prompt

Try holding down the function key and hitting the numlock or scroll lock key, this is usually how you engage or disengage the laptops function keys on the keyboard. Most laptops have a light that will turn on and off when you do this, indicationg that the funtion keys are in use. depends on the brand
Num Lock on/off. Thank you! I have an Acer Aspire. Just hit; (Num Lock) key above the 7 on the numerical keys on the right side and; Fn / Function key to turn on and off Num Lock it appears as a lock with # 1 on it in left side where cap lock appears when it is on!

Function key and F12 key had stopped working exactly after 12 months in Dell Inspiron E1505
I have a Satellite U205-S5044 and the FN key for F4, F5, F6, F7, and F8 have stopped working. FN F9-F12 still work.
I tried it but still not working :( I have an ASUS 900 EEE Series.
