One or more of the Cold Cathode tubes that illuminate the lcd backlight may be bad. i have the 19" and it has 4 - 2mm X 400mm tubes (two at the top and two at the bottom). One of them quit so to test it out i temporarily replaced it with one from my pc and it started up fine. You can order from:

But ONLY if you have knowledge of electronics, patience, a steady hand, and fine screw driver set. (oh and latex gloves in a dust free environment.) You don't want to get the screen layers back together only to find some hairs or dust specks light up when you turn the lcd on!
btw: The tubes are as small as the ink tubes in a ball point pen and can snap very easily...

I have a Proview PA-19DK5 LCD tv that when you first turn it on , the screen stays on for 1-2 seconds then goes black, but the audio stays on, what causes this to happen, any solutions would be great. thanks
