How to eject a cd

A few ways of doing this

1) restart mac and press down the trackpad button after you hear the startup noise

2) if that does not work try opening up disk utility which is located in applications and then in the utilities folder and click on the icon of your disk under the left hand column then go up to eject button and click eject

3) or open up terminal found in the utilities folder within your applications folder and then type in
drutil tray eject and then press return

4) Finally what to do is try pick up your macbook tilt the
macbook to the one side and press the eject key and hopefully the effect of gravity will allow the CD to fall out.
However, I would say that DVDicon1.png drives in all macs are a bit suspect and if your macbook is still under warranty or under AppleCare take it back to the Apple Store and tell them that the DVD drive is faulty and they should replace it free off charge. Hope this helps.

A dvd has become stuck in my macbook and when i reboot, the screen remains blank and will not start up

If it is physically stuck, you will need to take it in for service.

If you just need to eject it, hold down the eject button or the trackpad button as you power on and continue to hold it down until the disc ejects.

Good luck!

APPLE MACBOOK WOULD BOOT. THE BOOT CD IS

unfortunately on the newer mac computer including the macbook you cannot boot to open firmware but there are other options
option 1)simply try holding down the mouse button or track pad button during boot after the first chime is sounded this will instruct the computer to eject the cd through the firmware
option 2) you can bypass the cd boot by holding down the option key after the first boot chime another simple solution this will allow you to choose a startup disk during...startup after which you can try the eject button on the keyboard or select the disk in finder and eject via trash can or eject symbol(symbol located in the open folder view of finder)
option 3) there is also a manual eject button though it may be harder to locate as they have change placements of it over the years however it can usually be found by probing the top center or far right of the cd slot with a paper clip just be gentle you don't want to damage an expensive piece of equipment by just carelessly jamming metal in it
you may want to try searching apple with your particular model and search for manual cd eject
best wishes, Crash
