I have connected one computer through Ethernet with link sys G router and other computer with wireless, i can access internet on both but i can't see or share file or computers . Firewalls on both computers are off and both are on same network. And router is on default setting . Any one can help me out how i can see one computer to other.
Check this one out - three computer network, two running XP SP2, one running Vista. All of a sudden, one XP machine couldn't access a shared folder on the other XP machine but - get this - the Vista machine could access the XP's shared folder no problem. After turning off the Windows firewall on the two XP machines without luck (oh, yeah, I did the enable NETBIOS under TCP/IP thing too), I went back to the XP machine I was trying to share from and reinspected it. On a whim I turned off the firewall included with the Symantec Norton Security and suddenly everything was fine. The other XP machine couldn't even ping the second (sharing) XP box by machine name earlier. I don't know if Norton got a wached out update or what, but I'm relieved everything is working now.
Turn on file and printer sharing for microsoft networks. Find it in network connections. Right click your connection, then select properties. You must also provide at least one file or folder to share before anything will be seen on the networked pc's.
