Upside down stitching

When attempting to do a zig-zag stitch, it now stitches upside down.  The zig-zag stitch is actually on the underside of the fabric.  HELP

When sewing all of the different stitches are, for lack of better words, upside down. If I do zig-zag the top, or the zig-zag pattern shows up on the underside of the fabric, the underside of the stitch is on the top. I don't know what else to do. Am I going to have to take it in for service or is there just a simple adjustment.

Sounds like the needle alignment is out.
This website has some instructions on how to properly set it up and also has manuals too.
