Try calling canon customer support it sounds like a ccd sensor.canon just replaced my ccd sensor in a s1 is for FREE.does not matter about warranty
The screen has most likely bit the dust or the connection to the screen on the inside has been jarred loose. Take it to someone that can do repairs or you may be looking at getting a new camera.

I have a Genius G-Shot DV610 Digital Camera, and the screen display is blank, only displaying white and nothing is showing. I have turned it off and on several times but the problem is still there. Kindly assist on what to do fix the problem.
same above problem
Yesch ... I have the same problem toooo.
However, I HAD the same problem about 6 months ago and I can't remember how it was cured, but it started working again.
Now .. just at the time I need it, the LCD screen has gone blank. Grrrrr
Dr Blockbuster knows "I should have gone to Radio Rentals!" Ha!
I'll be back with THE solution when I have it.

When i turn the camera on and the lens opens its just a black screen like if i were in a dark room & i can still take a picture and the flash will go off but the picture is still a black screen even when i put the memory card on the computer it is just black..
what can i do to fix this?
Was taking great pictures at the circus and then suddenly the screen went black - loads of icons showing but no picture on screen and nothing through the viewfinder. Possible a wrong button was pushed in the dark, while trying to get shots, but not sure. As with other posters, can click and it appears to have taken a pic, but nothing on the screen - even in review mode. The rest of the pictures we took prior to this snafu do appear on the screen in review mode. Also, tried switching memory card and batteries, also put settings to default (menu and set buttons work fine, ISO too) Any ideas???
i was taking pictures normally, clicking away. then suddenly the viewfinder goes black, as doess the screen. i can review all pictures i took prior to that. it almost seems like a shutter is not openeing inside... heeeeelp!
I owned the S2 IS and it had this same problem. The ccd detector has failed and Canon refused to fix the problem free of charge. Hundreds, if not more, people had this problem and nothing was done. I would have hoped they would have fixed it with this newer generation camera.
