If you do an internal test page ( there should be a button on the machine you push for this function, I'll give you the link for the manual in case you don't have it) does it come out crooked?
the alignment of cartridge is to make sure the colors are o.k. not for paper alignment.
if the internal test comes out ok then the problem is with the paper path, are the guides snug against the paper ?
if the internal test comes out crooked then the problem is with the scanner or board.

Thanks for the advice. I just fixed the problem by cleaning the rubber wheels that pull in the paper.
