How to Turn Off Voice Guidance on Blue Sky TV Voice Guidance (also called Voice Over or Audio Description) on Sky TV systems provides spoken descriptions of menus and on-screen elements to assist visually impaired users. If it has been accidentally activated, here are several methods to turn it off: Quick Method Using Voice Remote The fastest way to disable Voice Guidance is using voice commands:

  1. Press and hold the Voice button on your Sky remote (the blue microphone button)
  2. Speak into the microphone at the top of the remote
  3. Say: "Voice Guidance Off"
The feature will deactivate immediately. Using the Help Button (Sky Q) For Sky Q boxes, there's a quick-access method:
  1. Press the ? (question mark) button on your Sky Q remote while watching TV
  2. A help menu will appear on the right side of your screen
  3. Scroll down using the arrow keys to find "Audio Description" or "Voice Guidance"
  4. Press Select to toggle it from "On" to "Off"
  5. Press Back or Dismiss to close the menu
Through Main Settings Menu For all Sky systems (Sky Q, Sky Stream, Sky Glass):
  1. Press Home on your Sky remote
  2. Navigate down and select Settings
  3. Choose Accessibility
  4. Select Voice Guidance and toggle it to "Off"
  5. Also check Audio Description and turn it "Off" if enabled
  6. Press Back or Home to exit
If Settings Show "Off" But Voice Continues If the accessibility settings show "Off" but you still hear voice guidance:
  1. Go to Settings > Accessibility
  2. Toggle both Voice Guidance and Audio Description "On" then "Off" again
  3. Still in Settings, go to Systems Management > Resets & Factory Reset
  4. Select Soft Reset (this won't delete recordings)
Alternative cause: Check your TV's own accessibility settings. Some modern Samsung and other smart TVs have their own "Audio Subtitles" or "Voice Guide" feature in the TV's accessibility menu that can read text from HDMI sources. Access your TV's settings directly (not through Sky) and disable any voice/audio subtitle features there. For Sky Glass Sky Glass has a physical microphone button on the TV itself:
  • Look to the right side of your TV for two buttons (power and microphone)
  • Press the microphone button to disable voice activation
  • You can still use the voice button on your remote if needed
Additional Tips
  • The feature may activate accidentally if you say "Hello Sky" near a Sky Glass device
  • If all else fails, try holding buttons 4 & 6 simultaneously on your Sky remote to disable Bluetooth voice commands entirely
  • Consider a factory reset as a last resort if software glitches persist, though this will require setting up the box again
These methods should successfully turn off Voice Guidance on your Blue Sky TV system. The voice command method is typically the quickest solution if you have a compatible voice remote.
