Well the thing is it usually goes by NTSC standards(i.e.Western hemisphere) while you probably purchased it in a PAL zone, but i'm sure Bethesda customer services will take care of it, unless warranty has run out. But good luck.
I also have a US PS3 and am having the same problem with my UK copy of Oblivion it looks as though it only runs in HD, so if you are trying it on an SD TV you'll need to buy a HD TV and a HDMI cable. Good News is that it will then work, as I have tried it on a HD TV with HDMI. Bad News though is that it will set you back a least another £200 and thats if you buy a tiny 19" HDTV!
If any one has any other solutions please let us know!
Supposedly games arent region encoded. In fact my brother has an american ps3 and a Resistance: FOM bought in Spain and its working fine. Yesterday I bought a Dream Theater DVD encoded for zones 3, 4 and 6 and it didnt play in my PS3 (Zone 1) so in fact the zone issue can be the problem. Regards
