Tried 3 new blue ray discs bought as christmas presents. Connected to main component 60" pioneer HD monitor but kept coming up Illegal signal.

Connected up to 2nd samsung 26" HD tv but came up with mode unavailable.
Is this a resolution problem or a disc problem?
    Thanks.
    James

I have a Philips 42" HD. After experiencing the same problem, I followed all the suggestions posted on FIXYA and the issue still persisted. I then unplugged my tv, waited 20 secs., plugged the set back and that resolved my problem. Hope this works for some of you folks out there.

Ive got a similar problem. My HDTV has a compatibility issue with the ps3 and whenever I enter a game or switch resolutions TV starts flashing between dotted white screen and ps3 screen. I have to remove the HDMI cable and then put it in again in order to fix it. (Or if you are rich just get another HDTV :D)
I would try it in another HDTV (different model and brand) to discard it being a problem with the HDMI port.
