Closed caption wont turn off was solved by Bresnan tech. He told me the only way was to push the power button on my remote & then push the menu button right away & it would bring up a white screen & cc would be on it. I could't get it to work so I pushed the power button on my remote & the menu button on my motorola cable box & up came the screen & closed caption was on it. I disabled it & it took off the closed caption. Hope this helps
If your TV remote has a button marked CC or CCD or SUBTITLE press that button til the screen display reads "closed caption on" or something similar - if you get a black box on the screen without any print in it that means that the closed caption function is on but the show that you are watching is not broadcasting a closed caption [dxh]
I had the same problem. My DVD player was connected to my HD TV via a HDMI cable as was recommended by the DVD owner's manual. I removed the HDMI cable and used the three video component cables. Closed Captioning crossed to the TV immediately. Hopes this helps.
Not all TV programs and product
commercials are made with
Closed Caption (CC) information
included. Neither are all Closed
Caption modes (CC1, or CC2) necessarily
being used during the transmission
of a closed caption program.
Refer to your area's TV program listings
for the stations and times of
Closed Caption shows.
To close the close caption display from screen; press "CC" button on the remote control.
Your TV displays the closed captions that are broadcast with some
television shows. These captions are usually subtitles for the hearing
impaired or language translations. All VCRs record the closed caption
signal and most pre-recorded commercial video tapes provide closed
captions. Check for the closed caption symbol in your television
schedule and on the tape's packaging: .
1 Press MENU repeatedly until you see the Setup menu. Press CH
to select "Caption."
2 Press VOL+ to open the Closed Caption menu.
3 Press VOL + to turn closed captioning on.
Misspellings and odd characters can occur in captioning. Also, there may be a
captioning delay after changing channels. Neither situation is a TV malfunction.
4 Press CH to highlight "Mode." Press - VOL or VOL + to choose
"Capt." (captions) or "Text." In caption mode, captions appear and
cover a small portion of the picture. In text mode, information unrelated
to the program, such as news reports, are displayed and
often cover a large portion of the screen.
5 If you wish, use CH , CH , or VOL + to change the captioning
channel or field. Then, press DISPLAY to return to normal viewing.
Different channels and fields display different information, such as additional
languages or supplemental information
