When you reversed the polarity of the power and negative, if it did not blow the inline fuse, then all you did was burn the protection diode. Sometimes it can do more damage, but usually its just the protection diode that goes. They are a cheap fix and if you have a local cb shop, tell them what you did, and they should, repair it for $10 to $15. If they try to charge more, then they are trying to rip you off. If you don't have a cb shop to go to, and you can unsolder and solder components on a pc board, email me at rollincbmods@yahoo.com and I will walk you through re-placing the diode. The diode can be purchased at Radioshack.

First check the inline fuse to see if it is still good. If it is'nt, you can tell by the link in the fuse, will be broken and glass will look burnt. I f fuse is good then you can a schematic drawing of your radio and it will show you wher the resistor or diode that is a back up or safty circut for your radio. google cb radio and you will find many useful sites for repair and mods.
