Scanner? does my scanner connect to my printer or vice versa?

    My mom has an old Epson printer and scanner. The printer is now working , and there is power to the scanner but nothing still...I wished she would just get an all in one.

Both the scanner and the printer connect to a computer.

If you care about technical language, the scanner and the printer are USB clients. The cannot communicate with each other. The need a host for that. A computer has USB host device built in.
