Recently I acquired a second hand magic chef bread maker CBM 250-2. I noticed the first time I used it there were pieces of black rubber stuff underneath, and before the cycle was done for the maker, the paddle stopped working. I ended up with an okay loaf of bread. After removing the bread container, turned the maker over and removed the bottom plate (easy to do) and saw the remains of the belt. I called one local appliance store and was told the nearest store for bread maker parts was over an hour away. Got a brilliant idea to check at an automotive store (knew they carried belts of assorted sizes) and found a belt that will work for $8.00. The bread maker will wear out before this belt will. Made a loaf of bread - all is well, yeah!
So, the auto parts store is called O'Reilly Auto Parts, the belt size I used was Gates K030250 (13/32" x 25 - 3/4"). To make it easier to put the belt on (auto belts arent made to stretch) take the big wheel off (easy to do), turn the belt inside out (made belt easier to put on), and then work the belt and wheel back on. Put all back together and it was a go. You may find that a little longer belt be easier to put on, but I didnt want the belt to be too loose that it would slip.
God bless!
The paddle for my Magic Chef Bread Maker CMB 310 (310) was destroyed in my garbage disposal. I couldn't find any Magic Chef replacement. I did find that the TOASTMASTER MODEL TBR2 and TBR 15 have the identical paddle. I was able to order it from www.abtecparts.com It is product code # 07CTM34923. It took a few weeks to arrive but well worth the wait. It works just fine.
I had the same problem, but dear husband searched and searched for me and found a place that carries a belt that is slightly wider but works perfectly for the Magic Chef 1.5 model cbm 250-2 bread machine.I've been back in the bread making for about 2 months now with no problems. We can send anyone that needs a new drive belt for $ 20.00, and free shipping anywhere in the United States. We do sell on E-bay occasionally, but mostly buy ; ) Payment can be made thru Paypal or money order.
You can get the belt from McMaster Carr , part number 9003K44. Their website is www.mcmaster.com
Do not get the McMaster Carr belt listed above by another poster. It is too short by 4 inches. Even getting their next size up belt which is 24.5" is too short. I bought both and returned both to McMaster Carr. McMaster Carr says to measure using a string, then subtract 10% for stretching. Well, their neoprene belts you cannot stretch them even one millimeter, they are extremely hard. (Im sure if one uses a crowbar and fitting the belt on an automobile it can be stretched by brute force but dont try this on your breadmaker you'll simply break the plastic pully or bend the shaft) The span around the pulleys is 25.5" long, using a soft inseam tape measure.
I can confirm the post by Traceylovespa, that the DAYCO 4L270 does indeed work. It is a little thick, and at first I had to nudge the pulleys with my fingers to get them to turn after putting on the belt when the unit is turned on, but then they kept working by themselves with no help after about 1 minute.
I bought the Dayco belt from Amazon.com for about $9 delivered.
Thanks to this forum and Tracey's post, I saved myself money not having to buy another bread machine. Thanks!
(This is an update from my previous post warning against the use of the McMaster Carr belt, which does NOT fit)

OK, I tried the O'Reilly's belt suggested. My DH & I got it on the wheels, but the tension is SO TIGHT that nothing will turn. Back to the store with the belt, and back to Square 1, trying to get a replacement part from Magic Chef.
My plastic paddle broke 10 years ago and I contacted Magic Chef. They sent me a replacement that I've never had to replace. The replacement came from DCI Housewares & Appliances Inc at 8467 Dalton, Town Mt-Royal, Quebec H4T 1V5, phone 1-888-888-2433. Don't know how helpful this is since it was so long ago.
I think I have this model and am unable to get a new blade for it. I don't know where you found the weight of the model but the model number matches. How do you locate the belt inside the machine. I can check it.

Replacement belt can be found at Elliot's Hardware in Mesquite, TX- I used V belt DAYCO 4L270, has worked great.
Would like to find another paddle for my Magic Chef 2-lb; 250-2 model.
Actually, I was just looking around and saw a CBM 250-2 belt on eBay. Worth checking into??
I'm with the class action, but usually the victims don't get compensated, only the lawyers. So here we go again, maybe we should just boycott shopping at Wal-mart, since all they sell are Chinese made goods. I also called Magic Chef. The manual said to contact customer service at Wal-mart (wally world). I called several. I got comments: "We don't sell bread machines", "We are starting to sell the 'Sunbeam' breadmachine. I went to a belt specialty store and they did not have one that fit. They gave me two O-rings, but they aren't strong enough to do the job. Maybe I'll try the vac belt like the other suggested.
I used a dirt devil vacuum cleaner belt style 7. FOund at ACE hardware or elsewhere. Can't say how long it will last but it made it thru one 22 min. kneading cycle.

need belt drive for magic chef breadmaker
same problem
have the same problem need a belt.
I have the same problem. My belt broke in the middle of the kneading cycle, I was able to use the [ole-Chevrolet-fan-belt-fix.]
I used a pair of my wife's panty hose fashioned into a temporary belt. Just make you a loop so small that you have to strain to get it onto the pulleys and it seems to work ok for a little while. I'm definitely glad to know a vacume cleaner belt will work.
Machine started making weird noises; found blet in pieces when bottom was removed. Need to find a belt for this model, if available.
Thanks,
Lisa
