When I run the laptop of the battery, at start up I get an error message 0271, which it means to update the time and day. It does not happen when the computer is plugged in, only when it is unplugged. How can I get rid of that message.
There is a backup battery underneath the main battery and the age of
the T23s means these need to be replaced (after 6 - 7 years!).
You can pick one up on eBay for $10 or less w/shipping and you will
need the exact part as they use a propietary connector. If you do
the replacement yourself have patience, IBM made the plug very
difficult to line up - but it will eventually. If you try to
force it you can breack the motherboard connector off and require a
costly tech repair.
