Try--- switch player on and at the same time, hold in the volume raise tab ( + ) this should reset the gogear.

I had the same problem with my Zen Touch.
The solution is to use a pc that was never connected to the player, uninstall media player 11 and only then upgrade the firmware.

when off hold play down. then turn on(while holding play). then theres a recovery menu go to clean up.
