How to fix my problem

Can't scan documents...

"an error occurred communicating with the scanning device"

please help me...

  • Shelleymilne Apr 01, 2008

I cannot scan to my HP Officejet 6110xi all-in-one. When I load the documents to be scanned and push the Start Scan button, I get an error message saying, "The selected program is missing. Click OK, and try reinstalling the program." I already uninstalled, then reinstalled the program twice. After several hours of trying to get anything to print at all, I'm back to the same place as I started. I have a Windows XP operating system.

Thanks for any advice you may have!!

I have a computer with Win2K and an HP Officejet 6110 all-in-one printer. I am TRYING to scan a document, but keep getting an error that reads: 'Cannot connect to PC. Press enter to continue.' The printer works fine and I can make a paper copy of the document but I can't scan to anything, i.e. Word, Paint, email, Works, Wordpad, Power Point. Can you please help?

  • in the device manager check the USB chipset if it is VIA, or ALI, or SIS then it is the usb 1.0 compatibility issue , it ll work some time and sometimes it ll not ....
  • the usb cable shuld not be more than 6 feet in length
  • or it might be the firewall or the antivirus program which is stopping the incomming connection from the scanner .

Hey there Shelleymilne. If you're trying to scan from the PC like insert picture from scaner... does it work? If you're trying to multiply a document the OJ is working OK?
IF yes in boath cases try to dld the newest driver from the HP site: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=79477&lang=en The full solution driver - 166.14 Mb. Try installing other software from that HP page as well.
If the MFP doesn't scan/print in the upper cases, than you.re expierencing a scanner fault.
A HP service provider should be in your atention...
