A new part is faster and easier but sometimes the problem is a bent hook( the tiny part which goes through the eye of the needle). Remove the needle to see the part better and pull the threader down. Look in the very center of the threader for the hook. It is probably pushed to the right.Using a small screwdriver or other thin piece of metal, force the hook back to the center. Try it and continue until it enters the eye again. By the way, a Singer dealer can get this part for you for under $10.

You are threading the top of the machine incorrectly.
Make sure the needle is in correctly with the flat side to the rear of
the machine, make sure to thread the upper and lower portions of the
machine correctly. If this does not solve your problem, please respond.

The small hook that passes through the eye of the needle is bent or broken. If it is only bent it can be straightened with a small screw driver. If it is broken it will need to be replaced. Most dealers can get this part for you for about $5.00

I am desprately looking for your help. I have a Singer 416 model. It was sewing so well. Suddenly while sewing I heard a noise and the machine stopped sewing. I discovered the bobbin case was loose. Now the thread is not pulling the bobbin thread up. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong while inserting the bobbin case. PLEASE HELP.
