How do I use the automatic threader on my singer sewing machine

  • Anonymous May 06, 2008

I am desprately looking for your help. I have a Singer 416 model. It was sewing so well. Suddenly while sewing I heard a noise and the machine stopped sewing. I discovered the bobbin case was loose. Now the thread is not pulling the bobbin thread up. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong while inserting the bobbin case. PLEASE HELP.

A new part is faster and easier but sometimes the problem is a bent hook( the tiny part which goes through the eye of the needle). Remove the needle to see the part better and pull the threader down. Look in the very center of the threader for the hook. It is probably pushed to the right.Using a small screwdriver or other thin piece of metal, force the hook back to the center. Try it and continue until it enters the eye again. By the way, a Singer dealer can get this part for you for under $10.

SOURCE: Janome MC 10001 auto. needle threader stuck in up position.

You are threading the top of the machine incorrectly.

Make sure the needle is in correctly with the flat side to the rear of the machine, make sure to thread the upper and lower portions of the machine correctly. If this does not solve your problem, please respond.

The small hook that passes through the eye of the needle is bent or broken. If it is only bent it can be straightened with a small screw driver. If it is broken it will need to be replaced. Most dealers can get this part for you for about $5.00

Needle threader won't work on my Singer 4423

Hi there,

The needle threader hook is very tiny and easily bent or damaged.
The needle threader is designed not to turn, if the needle is not at its most upper position to protect the threader - Turn hand wheel until needle reaches its highest position.
Needle not alining with threader hook - Replace needle.
Threader hook bent - Replace with new needle threader hook.

Hope this helps.

Read more from the link I attatched.

Good luck & have a nice day!

The automatic threader isn't working. the bobbin isn't sewing correctly?

make sure the bobbin is turned counter clock wise, also try changing the bobbin, also try a new needle. you may have to have the automatic needle threader checked to see why it's not working

There's nothing wrong with the Threader, it's just that the Threader doesn't reach the back of the Needle!

Usually you have to manually move the needle up and down until its height matches the threader height. Newer machines have an automatic needle stop that generally matches the threader but most older machines need to be manually manipulated.

HINT: If you do need to manually thread your needle, lick your index finger and then rub the back of the needle's eye. Your thread will literally "leap" through the eye! This works for hand-sewing needles too!

I cannot get the CE-250 automatic needle threader to work. Threader and needle do not align up together.

Always make sure you rotate flywheel to raise the needle to its highest position before trying to use the threader. additionally the correct needle has to also be used so the threader wire and needle eye line up properly.

I have a model 348 and have difficulty threading the needle. is there an automatic needle threader that can be added?

There are small plastic threaders that are like a hypodermic that pushes the thread through the eye....a good sewing and craft shop will have these, or a thin wire threader for an overlocker is a good option....but you cannot add to the machine itself, no, it was never an accessory....more expensive models tend to have them as a standard feature

Singer Athena automatic needle threader does not work.

Check on the threader and see if the part that goes through the eye of the needle is bent. This is a very common problem. The threaders are becoming more and more difficult to replace. If the piece is bent, you can usually use a pair of tweezers to straighten it out.
