SOURCE: faulty microwave function on the SHARP R-957 model (900watt)

This is a problem in one of the damper-related components, most likely the switch, but it may also be the motor or the damper door.

The damper is a door inside that opens or closes depending on cooking mode. If the controller senses that the door is not in the right position, it will shut down the cook cycle.

Sharp models stop after 59 seconds.

See the attached sample photo for a typical damper assembly.

SOURCE: BELLING M395 TCCS COMBINATION MICROWAVE OVEN

If the fan and light are on when it's running, but the oven is not heating, it may be a bad door switch. We have important safety information and a help file to test and replace door switches and you can find it by searching on Yahoo.com (not Google) for microwave circuit repair It may also be a bad connection at the magnetron or another problem, but please look over this information first then let us know what you find out.

SOURCE: MICROWAVE OVEN DOES NOT HEAT ALL OTHER FUNCTIONS WORK

Since the light comes on and the turntable rotates, I would suspect a bad magnetron, a loose connection at the magnetron, a failed high voltage transformer, or shorted high voltage rectifier diode.

If it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty.I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

Ifit's within the magnetron portion of the warranty (usually 5-9 years)but out of the original full warranty (usually 1 year), then yourmanufacturer will cover the part cost, but not the cost to visit you orthe labor charge to do the work.

If you or a friend want to work on it, please see these links first:http://www.microwavedisplay.com/safety.txt& http://www.microwavedisplay.com/disassembly.txt

Here are some links you or someone you know can use (in order given) for test help, but read the safety warnings first:

http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/diode.html (if it is NOT shorted, it's probably fine)

Thereshould also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind thecontrol panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which isvery helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

For Frigidaire models, you can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

Or you can find your nearest Frigidaire/Maytag-authorized servicer here.

You can visit Daewoo onlineor call them at 1-800-323-9668 or 1-800-553-4355 to find parts or findyour nearest authorized service center to have them do the work.

SOURCE: GE Microwave/Convection JVM 1090 oven won't reach temperature

You probably have a bad thermistor.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

(At that site, that part is misspelled as "thermister" for your model).

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Accessing some components for testing will require you to remove the oven from the wall.

If so, the installation instructions are very handy, and it's best to have two people since the microwave can be heavy and awkward.

You can download GE owner's manuals and installation instructions here.
