Computer does not recognize usb device

I am trying to download music on the coby mpc854 mp3 player and my computer says that windows dosnt recognize the usb device

  • Anonymous Mar 20, 2014

I have a Coby MP727-8G mp3 & video player with FM radio. When plugged into my computer, I get a message saying, "USB device not recognized." This prevents me from downloading any music, etc. My system is Windows 7.0. I go to www.cobyusa.com for support and get a Coby ad but nothing else. I called the phone number for tech help but it is not any good. Is there some "firmware" somewhere that I can download so I can use my player? Thanks.

Go into the settings menu, from there, go into usb mode...there are two settings: mtp & msc... my player was using mtp and wasn't being recognized, so I switched it to msc, and the computer recognized it.

Dbl click on "my computer" desktop icon and see what you have listed before you hook it up then dbl click again after you hook it up,,,see if there is anything new listed there,,,if so then that should be the MP3 even though it may not say MP3.Mine says Mass Storage. If its there then just double click that drive and you should be able to drag and drop.
