your ethernet card went bad look at ethernet cord right down info take to computer shop or walmart and replace ethernet cord most of time it compatable to any windows any eathernet card now sound card different.
Without an ethernet port, you can't connect to a router. However, adapters are available which can adapt usb to ethernet. Check your local computer store.
try restarting the router make sure u have a gold card or silver or what ever and u also have to have the wireless network adapter but u also have to a wireless router in order for the xbox360 to contact the router unless u have the ethernet cord plugged in i hoped tht helped u BYE

just type your compaq desktop model no ...for eg.compaq presario v 6000..you need to know your model no in order to download drivers for your desktop pc...
for windows xp if you want networking between your computers attach your computers with cross cable and right click on my computer for system properites > there you will see computer name tab > there you will see network id button > click on it and run the installation on all the computers you want to be in network.... ------------------------------------------- Please let me know your feed-back.
