There is an OF code on my Samsung Refrigerator Model # RFG257AA what does this mean?

I tried the solution but it goes off and shows the temperature and then it goes back to the same code

  • Anonymous Oct 14, 2012

that is because you have to simultaneously push down power saver and freezer button (make sure your fingers are right in the middle, not too high or too low!) for at least 3 seconds.

It is power save and power freeze at the same time.

If you get the message OF on your Samsung refrigerator here is how to correct it. What OF means is your freezer and refrigerator has or is going to stop and warm up. How it gets activated I don't know. To correct it push the Light+Freezer buttons for 3 seconds. It will reset to the last temp settings and everything should go back to normal.

I did that for mine and the 0F came back in a few minutes. Found somewhere else that suggested unplugging for 10 min. I guess that did a major "re-boot". That was an hour ago. Seems to be working fine and inside temps are coming down.

Mine does not have that combination - I did try ENERGY SAVER and FREEZER - it works.

Press ENERGY SAVER AND FREEZER buttons simultaneously for at least three seconds. It is very important that your fingers are right in the middle, not on the sides, or too high or too low. I just chatted with a live agent about it and fixed the problem after an hour of trying the other procedure.

It that doesn't work, unplug the fridge for 10+ min. That will do a complete "re-boot" of the fridge. It worked for me.

I tried all the other codes and nothing worked. My refrigerator started freaking out with different codes and then would stop on the OF OF. The energy saver and freezer button for 3 secs. Did the job!

Ayyiyi, no solution yet after trying a gazillion different combos of stuff, freezer works fine, fridge just refuses to cool. Trying this solution there must be some secret code as can hear fridge running if I put my ear to it, and it does not go above 50, so it must be cooling somewhat after 3 days. Will let ya know if I find a secret to this, it must be there somehow...Second time for me in 2 months, and very frustrated, Samsung service sucks, they just read off a screen and have no idea and can barely speak English. They are or so they say, sending out A&E Factory Repair, which is about a week or two away, and their reviews are absolutely horrific, so hesitate to even let them touch my brand new french door unit. Anyone in Maine or thereabouts have anyone they have used to fix this...seems to be a pretty fairly common problem, would think Samsung would get on top of it and not blow it off to some fly by night service company with a very bad reputation. Email me if anyone finds an answer and will post here too if I find it. bob04951@hotmail.com Thanks!!!

Tried the other options below nothing worked called a repair company. $75 later and 5 minutes he said it’s fixed. Press Power Feeze and Feezer at the same time. Save your self the service call.
