I have a singer model 1120 that is in its first use. I threaded the machine correctly, however, the handwheel appears to have too much tension and will not allow me to go down far enough to sew. Is there anyone that can help a sewing novice? thanks.

Have you checked your bobbin, mine sometimes gets the needle thread stuck underneath the bobbin and it all gets really tight and won't let the needle go down enough to sew.
