Canon imageRUNNER C3220 Color Copier Logo
Posted on Oct 27, 2010

I have a problem with Canon imageRUNNER 2318 which is supposed to be 3 in 1(photocopier, printer and color network scanGear) the first two have no problem but Color network scan gear has never worked for me since i installed it. when trying to access it via ScanGear tool, an error pops up saying "The specified IP address or hostname is invalid or the scanner in not connected" when i use the IP Address tab to connect to the computer to which the scanner is installed and on this very computer you can't see any scanner icon in the scanners and cameras window . And the connection goes quiet when using the Discover tab from the ScanGear Toll. I have already installed the Color Network ScanGear ver 2.61 on two computers but both can't access the scanner. Please any kind help is highly appreciated! Thanks is Advance.

ScanGear won't run under Vista. The scanner works with other programs. (Twain works) ScanGear fails and Vista closes it.

SOURCE: Network ScanGear can't discover Canon IR 3220

Had the same problem with my Canon IR2018i... After spending about all day stuffing around and ready to give up... I read in the Color Network Scangear User Manual that
"Only scanners on the same subnet (network with the same network ID) as your computer are displayed in the list"
So I went the the TCP/IP settings on my copier and changed my subnet mask from 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.255.255 and magically my scanner appeared....
Give it a go...
