Hi we have a gestetner 2722ztd with error code E4-05 turned machine off and back on and will reset however comes back on again later.Indicates that problem is in the transfer section. Any common issues or part to replace in this section. machine has 230,000 copies on it. Not as familiar with this model as other Gestetner models.Any help would be appreciated. Need to know what parts to replace or how to proceed.

Are you sure of the code? I don't have the exact manual for that, machine but the number seems strange. "5xx" errors are usually related to the fuser, so could be a bad lamp, thermistor, or fuse. see note to reset (if there is not a problem) as follows:
There are 2 levels of service call conditions.
Level Definition Reset Procedure
"A"
To prevent the machine from being
damaged, the SC can only be reset by a
service representative.
The copier cannot be operated at all.
Enter SP 5-810 (SC code reset) and
select “1”. Then hold down the Original
type key and the OK or ! key at the
same time (this does not require the
main switch to be turned off and on).

Dev. Change Process

1. Check that Dev. unit has the lastest seals.
2. replace dev. material.
3. Dump dev.
4. add new dev. material.
5. Hand rotate the dev. unit 10 times.
6. reinstall the dev. unit into machine.
7. cover the toner inlet opening with a piece of paper
8. insert PCU unit.
9. turn the machine on.
10. When machine reaches ready -- enter SP modes and perform SP-2801 (2 times)
11. open the right cover of the machine. Cheat the right cover switch. Examine the drum as it rotates. Afew bands of toner and the ID pattern will be developed on the drum. The drum should be clean -- a slight dusting on the drum is OK.
12. Perform SP-3001 -- ID sensor initial setting.
13. ** Important** remove the PCU unit. Empty the toner from the PCU by sliding the shutter on the bottom of the PCU to the side and tapping the PCU.
14. reinstall the PCU.
15. Run test copies.
