First, be sure your OS is compatible with the mp3 player. Usually it is written on the packaging or the manual as to which ones it is compatible with. Second, be sure you have all drivers installed BEFORE connecting the mp3 player. It can usually be found on a CD that came with the product, if not you can go to the GPX website and download the drivers from there. After downloading the drivers, restart your computer. Once it loads try plugging it in then. it should be picked up if you installed them correctly.
initailly there was a dev. sys config file or something of that nature on the GPX website like a year ago that would allow you to replace and/or access your music and/or the GPX mp3 player, however 2-3 years later they have fixed bugs and put out many other mp3 players so your luck of finding this file is dwindling. try it w/ and w/out batteries and try to go to win explorer as oppsed to "my computer"
ii brought the same player..and in the instructions it says to go to www.gpx.com...but there is no product number mw3317 offered on there web site...they only have the mw3327 player listed..BUT!!!..mw3327 a 512 Mb memory model...not a 256 Mb memory model that the mw3317 is...i Just downloaded the drivers listed under the mw3327 model....heres the link to the 3327 model...http://www.gpx.com/store/p/170-MW3327.aspx....it is the same exact player...EXCEPT!!!!!..it has 512 Mb of memory..not the 256 Mb..that the Mw3317 has...try those drivers buddy
I solved the problem on my win98se OS by
using the drivers from GPX from another mp3 player ( MW6347DT ).
Before, it did not find the pci to usb drivers, etc. Now, all the
proper drivers are being found. The MW6347DT driver for win98 can be found here: http://www.gpx.com/download_prod.php?id=...
