ERROR 0271 IBM THINKPAD T20 After starting the Laptop Error 0271 check the date and time setting Error Fan error. is been displayed on the screen Then Thinkpad Lock is been displayed on the left top corner. nor does the system boots nor does it enters bios setup. Please if u have the solution.....

CPU Fan error has been solved, I serviced it & its working but 0271 check date & time setting error needs to be solved, I cannot enter bios setup to set date & time It is asking for Password.

Are you a computer whizz? (do you know a lot about computers like me?)

Could be the Cpu fan (Central Processing Unit)
That could be lethal to the laptop.
Just as well it's a IBM other wise . . .
As for the error it means the time and date are not set.
soloution: run the bios setup utillity to reset time and date.

Try put in a new Cmos Battery.

Usually, on a thinkpad, it is located under a little cap which contains the ram-Keep it away from carpet remove it carfeully.

REMOVE THE POWER BATTERY BEFORE OPENING THE LAPTOP.
