For the 0072 try this:
Power off the machine. Then remove the toner bottle be careful the hole might be on the bottom toner is going to go everywhere. Then close the toner cover and turn on the machine. Let the machine go through it normal routine. When it asks for toner install the toner correctly. If THE KUNB on the side of the bottle is damage put a new one in that KUNB is what the toner motor uses to turn the bottle if it damage you get a code. If that does not work you might have a bad motor or the home sensor or actuator for the toner bottle is bad worse case the control board is bad

Yes, it means that something is wrong with the scanner. It may be fixed, it depends what is wrong with it. Is the scanner skewed under the copyboard glass? If so that means that the scanner cables have poped off and they will need to be restrung. It could also be the scanner drive motor or the driver PCB. It may also be that the scanner HP sensor is dirty or is not working correctly. I have worked on these models for years and most of the time it has been a sensor or the cables poped off. There is a jig that makes it easier to restring the cables, but either way it will take time and time is money.... Question is are you willing to put the money in to it?? This model came out around 1995 or so... Good Luck

The toner bottle is in wrong, take out the toner bottle and close the front door. wait until the motor stops running or until the copier asks for toner. open the door, the bottle should go in with the hole up.
