My wireless button on the screen fails to come on after pressing it since I chnaged my OS from vista to XP

Try installing the latest wireless card driver.
You can download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEBsupport/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP orVista Windows version of the drivers you require and install them. Click onthis link to download the drivers: -
