Have you power reset printer? Does it power up OK. what model printer is it?
some things to start
is there ar print icon on the task bar bottom left iof screen? If so right click it and open active printers.
are there print jobs listed? does it say the printer is paused or off line?
If so from the Printer menu, uncheck pause printing, and/or select Use printer online.

Please have a look at the manual for your printer here, consult page 31 and make sure you have followed the instructions for setting up the Printer Properties(driver) for your OS. (pg 21).
It may be necessary for you to update the printer drivers on your system to get the machine to print correctly. You can download the latest drivers from HP here.
If this info doesn't resolve your issue, have a look at other similar posts in the HP forums here, and perhaps you will find a solution, but I'm guessing you haven't configured the printer properties correctly.
There is also a problemsolving guide in the manual online that may help you with step by step instructions if you want to troubleshoot the issue from your side.

on your computer in the task bar click the printer icon and erase the file you wanted to print once it erased it should work
