There is no wireless function key displayed on keyboard, and I cannot find a slider switch or any other switch to enable wireless on my Gateway NV44 laptop. The user manual does not provide any info as to where I might find a button to enable. running windows 7.

The computer employs capacitive touch keys that perform the functions. They are "buttons" with no button. Look for the Wireless Icon that looks like the indicator light for your wireless adapter and place your finger over it for about two seconds. This should turn it on!
