My Float switch on my Water Ace R3S sump pump has 3 wires going into the pump. I want to jumper this connection in order to rule out a bad switch. I suspect that only two pins have to be jumpered. Does anyone know which of the three pins I jump in order to trigger the motor?

    Thanks for the info. If it was only two pins in the connection it would be simple. However, there is three. If I jumper the wrong ones I am afraid I may short out the circuit or burn up the windings. I am trying to figure out which of the two I need to jumper.

There should be two wires that go to the float switch. Jump the 2 pins that are connected to those 2 wires.

    Look at the 2 wires that go out to the switch. Take note on which pins they are connected too. Take a picture if you have too. Pull both wires off the pins and install the jumper between those two pins. That's it.

    The cable that plugs into the outlet should have 3 wires. A black, a white, and a green. The green is equipment ground and won't be connected to any pins. The black is the hot. The white wire is the neutral and the _only_ wire to be concerned about when jumping any pins. Look at where the incoming white wire is connected. Don't jump any wires to it. You are correct, jumping to the neutral wire will cause a short circuit and possibly damage the motor.

    The cable that goes to the float switch should have two or three wires. If it has 3 wires the third wire should be the green equipment wire, again, it is of no concern. The remaining two wires may be a black and a white. Regardless of color, one of those wires is connected to (usually the pin directly across from) the incoming black wire from the other cable, and the other wire will connect to a pin that in turn connects to the motor. Does that help?

    I couldn't find any diagrams online. Perhaps you can take a picture of the pins and post a link to it?

    I tried to find a wiring diagram on line as well. I will have to take apart the float switch to see which ones open and close the circuit. I was trying to avoid messing with it so I wouldn't break the seal. The pins at the top of the pump are not marked and it is almost impossible to see any pin numbers or letters. I guess they wanted to make it hard. I may go down and look at a similar one in the store and bring my meter to get some answers. Thanks for all your help. Rich
