Try your camera settings black and white or sepia take them off.Or just reset all your settings

1. Press the Func/Set button
2. Scroll down to the My Colors icon on the left (probably say OFF)
3. Use left/right arrow to select B/W
4. Press Func/Set button
Remember to set back to OFF when you want to shoot color again.

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...
Here are some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try.

On the IXUS 900 you can not use black and white, although you can change it to black & white when you go to print it in the shops or on the computer in programs like adobe, zoombrowser or windows.
